An Evening with Cabinet: The Art of Hypochondria

Hypochondria is an ancient name for a malady that is always fretfully new: the fear of disease and the experience of one's body as alien and unpredictable. This evening will feature Brian Dillon, Cabinet’s UK editor, in conversation about his new book, The Hypochondriacs: Nine Tormented Lives, with D. Graham Burnett (Princeton) and Marina van Zuylen (Bard). To be followed by a moderated open discussion.

Cabinet is a quarterly non-profit magazine that aims to establish a new culture of curiosity by actively dismantling boundaries between traditional disciplines. A sourcebook of ideas for anyone interested in how the world we live in has been shaped, Cabinet's contributors and readers include artists, historians, scientists, and cultural critics. See www.cabinetmagazine.org for more information.

This program is made possible with generous support from the Axe-Houghton Foundation and with public funds from The National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
