An Evening with The Encyclopedia Project

Building on the success of the DIY extravaganza that was Encyclopedia Vol. 1 A-E, The Encyclopedia Project’s editors Tisa Bryant, Kate Schatz and Miranda Mellis launch their second book, Encyclopedia Vol. 2 F-K, with an evening of original stories, ideas, images, sound, from FABLE To KINESTHESIA, FORESHADOWING To KUTI, FELA. Rather than plan the five-volume, cross-referenced, hardcover compendium of narrative and storytelling possibility in advance, The Encyclopedists invited contributions of text and color art from all over the world, creating a rich, inclusive, unexpected “anti-canon,” through a chance and collective process.  The evening will feature past and present contributors, including Samuel R. Delany, A. Naomi Jackson, Sara Jaffe, Robin Coste Lewis, Rick Moody and Frances Richard. Providing live music for the evening will be REALIA, a special collaboration featuring Sara Jaffe (Erase Errata), Greg Saunier(Deerhoof), and Jamie Peterson (Old Time Relijun, Dada Swing).

Literature programs at The Kitchen are made possible with generous support from the Axe-Houghton Foundation and with public funds from The National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
