Choreography/Text: Carlotta Sagna

A is "an unlikely trio with a warped sense of humor, a feast of studied disorder which seems to be an elegy to the performer" (The Inrockuptibles, France). Drawing an anti-postmodern, minimalist parallel to Yvonne Rainer's classic Trio A, choreographer Carlotta Sagna (Needcompany's acclaimed Morningsong and King Lear) exposes the inconvenient aspects of performing: the pathetic desire to please, stage fright, the euphoria of applause, and the disarray that follows.

The L.A.-based media lab C-level infiltrates The Kitchen for an open dialogue on their cooperative model, two live action video game performances, and the world premiere of their newest game project. C-level appears at The Kitchen in conjunction with co-founder Eddo Stern's New York solo exhibition at our 19th street neighbor, Postmasters Gallery (September 6-October 11).

Contemporary artists immersed in traditional Indonesian aesthetics give a multimedia spin to the legend of Roro Mendut. What results is a storytelling hybrid powerfully weaving live vocals, Balinese and Javanese masks and dance, stilts and martial art performance.
